Aderayo Adenekan (artistically known as 'Adéráyọ̀') is a Nigerian-born, Glasgow-based multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans music, movement, moving image, and live performance. Her work explores queerness, migration, the mind, memory, and emotional healing and often combines sound, movement, and visual storytelling to create immersive interdisciplinary experiences.
Her moving image art film "Dissonance" (2025) demonstrates this approach. Conceived, directed, and choreographed by Adéráyọ̀, the project explores dissociation, queer embodiment, and survival through film, dance, and sound. Since its release,
"Dissonance" has been exhibited at multiple venues and festivals, including the Scottish Refugee Festival (2025), Sett Studios in Edinburgh (2025) and Aderayo's own curated exhibitions.
In July 2025, she curated and performed in "Synesthesia", a multidisciplinary event in Glasgow showcasing marginalised artists. As curator, Adéráyọ̀ led programming, secured sponsorship, collaborated with a lighting and stage designer, and facilitated a night of performance that fostered visibility and community.
Her broader practice also includes curating multidisciplinary nights ("Resonate", "Ecstasy"), performing for major platforms (National Theatre of Scotland, Garbage music video, EE commercial), and contributing to experimental queer performance events across Scotland.
Through her work, Adéráyọ̀ continues to create spaces of honesty, visibility, and connection; bringing forward stories and voices that challenge boundaries and broaden cultural landscapes.
